There is something refreshing about the Harbourmaster – maybe it’s the harbourside location, maybe it’s the easygoing cheery atmosphere or maybe it’s the pleasingly honest menu that seeks to impress on the plate rather than on the page. It’s probably a combination of these and more that has made a table at the Harbourmaster one of the most sought after in Wales. There’s no standing on ceremony and the bar and restaurant with their fresh nautical colours and witty artwork are invariably buzzing with the chatter of happy customers.
And who wouldn’t be smiling at the prospect of tucking into smoked Gower cod with a poached egg and beurre blanc or a honey-glazed rack of Welsh lamb with dauphinoise and a thyme and red wine jus. An excellent wine list of sensible length offers plenty of character at reasonable prices and no less than ten wines are available by the glass.
