From the outside Ty Mawr looks every inch the classic country house hotel, a well-proportioned, Grade II listed Georgian mansion that has been gloriously restored to its former glory by dedicated owners Martin and Catherine McAlpine. Step inside and, in true style, you will find grand lounges filled with period furnishings and a sweeping staircase leading to classically decorated bedrooms. Contemporary touches come in the form of swish bathrooms, every modern-day comfort imaginable and a stylish, up-to-the-minute restaurant.
Bare boards, modern art and garden views set the scene for savouring the short and ever-changing menu created by Jeremy Hywel Jones. His cooking is modern British in style and dishes (described in Welsh and English) make good use of fresh local produce, most sourced from within a 10-mile radius of the hotel. Tuck into a starter of saddle of rabbit with tarragon mousse and red onion marmalade, follow with Welsh Black sirloin steak with foie gras sauce or roast monkfish with sweet potato puree and orange beurre blanc, and round off with dark chocolate mousse with white chocolate ice cream.
Modern British cuisine with a Welsh twist, served in a restaurant that has recieved 2 AA Rosettes for the food.
