Janet Pitman has been gathering plaudits for her top quality cooking for many years at Tan-Y-Foel. The dining room like the rest of the house manages a great balance between homeliness, luxury and style and those are adjectives that serve well to describe the cooking too which is exact, flavour-led and based on top-notch ingredients.
The menu offers just a couple of choices at each course, but it’s an approach that guarantees quality. And starters like sardine fillets with sweet fresh ginger and soy dressing or mains like loin of organic Bryn Dowsi lamb with garlic and rosemary mash, puy lentils, sauteed sweet red onions and balsamic and roasted hazelnut oil dressing are hugely accomplished in their execution. A well-chosen wine list has been selected with care and passion and provides plenty of excellent options to do justice to the food.
