Backing on to one of the few remaining sections of the Glamorganshire Canal, the Bunch of Grapes has a history as rich as its menu of locally produced food and drink.

Built around 1800, the pub is rumoured to have once welcomed Isambard Kingdon Brunel whilst he oversaw work at the nearby chainworks.  Ironically for a pub with this name, its reputation was forged on its selection of real ales - a tradition very much still continuing to this day.

But the Bunch of Grapes is by no means trading on its past.  It has been sympathetically and tastefylly refurbished, creating a great venue with a fantastic atmosphere that's as perfect for fine dining as it is for a quiet pint.

The restaurant provides simple, unpretentious food which is locally sourced.  The menu emphasises seasonal variations and with a keen young team of chefs on board, you'll find the specials blackboard and menu changing on a regular basis.  Slow roasted belly of Welsh Pork and pan fried Wye Valley duck have been just some of the restaurant's recent highlights.

The Bunch of Grapes has recently launched it's Winter 2010 menus for the Bar & Restaurant

Choose from home-rillette of rabit and pistachio with confit carrot, pickled beetrrot and croutons or perhaps you would enjoy pan fried cockles, laver bread, leeks and home-cured pancetta on fried bread with charred lemon.

The mains menu features pan fried Anglesey farmed seabass with Talgarth black pudding, crushed potato and served with grilled black tiger prawn and pommegranate salsa or slow roated belly of Welsh pork with :Lyonnaise potato and caramelised apple sauce
