It’s not unusual to find a Victorian villa in Llandudno that has been turned over to hotel use. But it’s much less common here, or in any other seaside town to find a haven like Escape. This is an unashamedly modern, hip and genuinely luxurious enterprise that only opened in 2004. Frankly, as the Times commented last year, Escape wouldn’t look out of place in New York, Los Angeles or Barcelona. It’s all about the rooms, as breakfast is the only meal served (although they will organise private dinner parties for those wanting to take over the whole place) and it’s the rooms that attract the plaudits. Individually styled with tags such as “retro-inspired,” “urban-cool” and “contemporary chic” all are kitted out to the highest spec with the likes of LCD televisions. Rooms 1 and 3 have recently been upgraded and no longer have whirlpool baths, room 1 now has a double width shower and room 3 features a shower and a copper bath
The whole place smacks of style, hedonism and a healthy dose of fun. If you are looking to escape (and that includes escaping the kids, they don’t take under tens) then this really is the place to go. It does exactly what it says on the tin.
