With Snowdonia on one side and the coast on the other, Maes-y-Neuadd can surely lay claim to one of the most beautiful locations in Wales. A Welsh manor house dating from the 14th century, it is now a relaxed country house hotel personally run by the Jackson and Payne families. They have made this a perfect base for exploring the mountains of north Wales and the beauty of the Lleyn Peninsula.

Peter Jackson has long been established as one of the most talented chefs at work in Wales and particular pride is taken in making the most of the produce from the hotel’s own kitchen garden. Sumptuous sofas, antiques and country house elegance are the order of the day in the public rooms, whilst the bedrooms are marked out by their individuality and the obvious thought that has gone into guest comfort.

The hotel is set in no less than 85 acres of grounds including meadows, ponds and woodland, offering plenty of opportunity for a relaxed stroll before dinner. On a fine day, the conservatory is undoubtedly the place to take a pre-dinner drink. Here one can view the magic of the sun setting over the Lleyn Peninsula – an unforgettable sight.
