Morfa Nefyn, Gwynedd, LL53 6DB

Category: Places to visit

You’ll find Morfa Nefyn on the Lleyn peninsula just about a mile from the village of Nefyn. It’s a small, picturesque coastal fishing village but people don’t come here for the fishing. They come for the open air and the stunning views which are simply breathtaking - some of the best in the country. The village has a long sandy beach that curves around to make an almost perfect semi-circle along the headland and its low cliffs. It’s sandy, quiet and secluded, safe for bathing and the perfect place for a chilled out day. If you fancy stretching your legs, there’s an easy circular walk along the beach to Porth Dinllaen then onto the golf course with stunning views on both sides of the peninsula. The neighbouring village of Nefyn is an historically interesting spot as it was the place that Edward I celebrated his conquest over Wales in 1284. Go to St Mary’s Church and you’ll discover the Lleyn Historical and Maritime Museum, an excellent place to find out about the region’s long maritime heritage extending back to the Vikings.
