Wales meets Italy at Venetia, a striking restaurant with rooms filled with Italian brio.
It springs from Marco Filippi’s Italian roots. Venetia’s chef/patron, who runs the business with partner Jayne Edge, loves fishing, so both pasta and seafood play a large part in his menus. This local/Italian fusion takes the best from both cultures – local fishing boats, for example, supply the kitchen at this Victorian villa, which has thrown off its frilly, straight-laced past to embrace the present with great zest and style.
Bold, vivid colours characterise its boutique bedrooms where a blitz of contemporary touches includes Italian porcelain tiled bathrooms with underfloor heating, Phillipe Starck-designed lighting, luxury toiletries and specially commissioned artworks. Venetia, the leader of the pack in the fashionable little resort and sailing centre of Abersoch, is all about glamour and good food, coastal cool and seaside chic.
Venetia is perfectly located in the heart of pretty Abersoch.
If you are travelling by car from the North West, follow the M56 motorway then the A55 expressway. From the South of England and Midlands, you need to follow the M6, M5 and M1 – or for the more scenic option from the Midlands, take the A5 through the heart of Snowdonia.
