With Wales in Style, you can find those special places to stay in Wales - from romantic weekend breaks to full blown family holidays.
Everyone has dreamt of staying in an ancient castle, and this one covers off everything you dreamt of, and more. Wales boasts hundreds of castles, but this one is unique in offering a range of differing styles of special places to stay, complete with turrets standing guard over the River Teifi! It has almost a thousand years of history to investigate, and yet the dedicated CADWGAN Building Preservation Trust has brought it kicking and screaming into the 21ts century after a painstaking multi-million pound bricks and mortar restoration. Cardigan Castle provides its lucky guests with an immersive experience, and creates memories to cherish. During the painstaking 4 year rebuild archeologists unearthed 9,500 timeless pieces that make the historical jigsaw come to life, and they can be seen in the Castle’s own exhibitions.
When we invite new properties into our Collection, we always consider that being ‘rare’ should be a top priority. In this case the East Wing in Cardigan Castle is ticks both the ‘hideaway’ and ‘rare’ boxes. There are very few opportunities to stay somewhere with such a carefully documented story to tell spanning over 900 years. If only walls had ears ... and these ancient walls are something special too. The contemporary accommodation is within the reassuringly solid walls of the immaculately restored Castell which holds a unique place in Welsh history and culture. Back in 1176, when the castle was born, they had a party, a justifiably big party, with music, performance, feasts and poetry … the inaugural Eisteddfod, a tradition which still attracts hundreds of thousands of people to each one to this day.
