With the opening of this small but perfectly formed distillery on the edge of the majestic Brecon Beacons, the great tradition of Welsh single malt whisky has been rekindled after a century of absence. Now fans of this exquisite liquid can take a tour of the visitor centre and discover the secrets of the Aur Cymru (‘Welsh Gold’) for themselves.
Staff are on-hand to offer you tasters of the distillery’s sublime creations. It’d be rude not to. There’s a great shop too, with all manner of gifts to keep the Welsh spirit alive back home.
It’s fascinating to watch Penderyn’s skilled artisans demonstrate the delicate process that goes into producing each barrel of Penderyn Single Malt. But the best is yet to come
