Llanerch Vineyard is open to non-residents for most of the year. The Vineyard Trail is a treat for anyone with the remotest interest in winemaking. A guide leaflet helps you find your way around the trails and also contains information on the vine varieties and the cool climate viticulture practised at Llanerch Vineyard. There is also the chance to see the delightful gardens and visit the ancient woodland with its two small lakes teeming with common and mirror carp.
Llanerch Wood is a special, tranquil place which in springtime sees the area scattered with wood anemones, primroses and carpets of bluebells. In early summer, the two lakes are surrounded with wild irises and, if you look very carefully, many small wild orchids. Birds of many descriptions have been seen within the woods and around the water including owls, buzzards, coots, dabchicks, moorhens, ducks, Canada geese and even the occasional kingfisher. At the end of your visit, you can have a wine tasting which is included in the charge. In addition you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with light refreshments and purchase wine and gifts at the vineyard shop.
Calon, the recently opened restaurant at the vineyard, offers an unrivalled dining experience in Wales. The menu is planned by award-winning Michelin-star Chef Hywel Jones and his protégé head chef Michael Edwards, it's heavily influenced by top-quality local and seasonal ingredients which are prepared with intelligence and respect.
Food this good is bound to inspire you which is where Llanerch Vineyard can help with its gourmet cookery school. Various classes and gastro weekends are on offer with guest teachers and a wide range of skills to be taught.
