Getting the little things right can go a long way towards making a dining experience a real cut above the rest.  And this restored 17th century coaching inn's restaurant takes this simple approach and runs with it.  The menus are short and to the point and the recipes straightforward and unfussy.  This is classic food done very well indeed.  The secret?  Nothing but the finest of ingredients, many from The Bell's organic kitchen garden or trusted local suppliers, resulting in a huge serving of good old-fashioned culinary expertise.

From achingly tender beef, lamb and pork, reared on the clean air and unspoilt hills of the Brecon Beacons, to organic ice cream from a local farm, the results are mouth-watering.  Even the likes of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has heaped praise on The Bell's fine fare, not to mention legions of locals and hungry travellers.  Not bad for 'just' a pub.  The riverside location and great atmosphere only add to the experience, and at the end of the night you can always sleep off any over-indulgence in one of the very comfortable bedrooms, which makes for a good excuse to enjoy the delicious full Welsh breakfasts too.
